Opal Carlson, LCSW
Opal Carlson, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker and earned her master’s degree with the School of Social Work at UW-Madison. She began her career as an outpatient clinical care manager at a community mental health agency in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan working with people diagnosed with serious mental illness as well as children and adolescents diagnosed with severe emotional disorders. Opal then spent three years working with veterans and their families as a behavioral health specialist with the Department of Veterans Affairs, also in Upper Michigan. Prior to her training and work as a mental health therapist she served 5 years as a linguist in the US Navy and completed an internship with the World Health Organization in Cairo, Egypt. She is passionate about social justice and enjoys working with diverse people and communities.
